What if my blood sample is haemolysed?

Updated over 2 years ago

“Haemolysed” means that the cells in your blood sample have burst or broken down. Haemolysis can occur with any blood sample, but is more likely to occur if it was difficult to obtain the full sample, if the sample was shaken, or if there was a delay between collecting the sample and our analysis. Haemolysed samples are usually unable to be analysed, so we’re afraid if this happens, we need a new sample from you!
